Lesions of the inferior alveolar nerve in sagittal osteotomy of the ramus -- experimental-study.

An experimental study on 30 hemimandibles in which sagittal osteotomy of the ramus was performed, after cleansing of the mandibular canal and filling it with wax, shows how inferior alveolar nerve lesions can occur. The use of a fine spatula is advocated for the splitting, in order to reduce the number of nerve lesions.
