Hypertrophy of the masticatory muscles may affect the temporalis, masseter, and pterygoid muscles in several different combinations.
A case of bilateral temporalis muscle hypertrophy, with masseter and pterygoid involvement, in a 26-year-old white woman in the fourth month of gestation is reported. Magnetic resonance imaging and physical examination were used for diagnosis. Hypertrophy was considered to be of acquired nature. The patient was managed using alternative, noninvasive methods.
After 2 months, visible reduction was observed. Clinical symptoms of muscle discomfort were also reported.
In the presented case, we were able to use an alternative, noninvasive form of treatment, which provided our patient with an overall improvement in physical and psychologic aspects.
咀嚼肌肥大可能以几种不同的组合方式影响颞肌、咬肌和翼状肌。
报告一例26岁白人孕妇，妊娠第四个月时双侧颞肌肥大，并累及咬肌和翼状肌。采用磁共振成像和体格检查进行诊断。肥大被认为是后天性的。该患者采用替代性非侵入性方法进行治疗。
2个月后，观察到明显减轻。还报告了肌肉不适的临床症状。
在本病例中，我们能够使用替代性非侵入性治疗方式，使患者在身体和心理方面总体状况得到改善。
