A follow-up of 28 patients with permanent distal occlusion, aged 11 to 15 years, and analysis of the results of their treatment have demonstrated that maxilla underdevelopment in the frontal area is one of the principal causes contributing to a dense disposition of the incisors, their protrusion, and lack of space for canines. To eliminate this abnormality and achieve stable results, extraction of some permanent teeth is recommended.
