The paper presents the experience with acute rejection and endomyocardial biopsy in heart transplantation in 28 patients over a period of five years. The authors regards endomyocardial biopsy as a sensitive marker of acute rejection, especially in patients on long-term cyclosporin immunosuppression. Some aspects of episodes of incipient acute rejection and mild acute rejection as well as their therapy are discussed.
