Between 1958 and 1988, at the ophthalmopathological laboratory of Utrecht University, different diseases were found in 60 eyes of 59 patients with the clinically established or tentative diagnosis of retinoblastoma. In this collection of extremely heterogeneous cases of pseudoretinoblastoma congenital malformations accounted for around 50% of the cases, inflammatory conditions for 35% and other diseases, including other tumors, for 15%. Modern examination and treatment methods have brought about a considerable reduction in the number of such cases.
1958年至1988年间，在乌得勒支大学眼科病理实验室，对59例临床确诊或初步诊断为视网膜母细胞瘤的患者的60只眼睛进行检查，发现了不同疾病。在这组极其多样化的假视网膜母细胞瘤病例中，先天性畸形约占50%，炎症性疾病占35%，其他疾病（包括其他肿瘤）占15%。现代检查和治疗方法已使这类病例的数量大幅减少。
