To evaluate the psychosocial problems associated with strabismus and the effects of corrective surgery in Chinese adolescents and adults with strabismus.
Psychosocial function was assessed by using a self-response questionnaire administered before and after corrective surgery. The self-response questionnaire was constructed based on previous studies and clinical experience of the authors.
Many of the 56 included patients had some psychosocial problems. Improvement in self-confidence, self-esteem, and relationships with friends was reported after surgery.
Chinese adolescents and adults with strabismus have low self-confidence and self-esteem, and experience difficulties in interacting in social situations. Corrective surgery improves psychosocial function.
评估中国青少年及成人斜视患者所伴有的心理社会问题,以及斜视矫正手术的效果。
通过在矫正手术前后使用自填式问卷来评估心理社会功能。该自填式问卷是基于作者之前的研究及临床经验编制而成的。
纳入研究的56例患者中有许多存在一些心理社会问题。术后患者的自信心、自尊及与朋友的关系均有改善。
