The changes in the erythrocyte lipid peroxidation products (MDA), levels of glutathione (GSH), ascorbic acid and plasma vitamin E (non enzymatic antioxidant parameters) and activities of antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GP(X)), catalase in erythrocytes and plasma glutathione - S - transferase (GST) activity were estimated in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. This work was undertaken to assess oxidative stress and anti oxidant status in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. It was observed that there was a significant increase in erythrocyte MDA levels, activities of SOD, GP(X), plasma GST and a significant decrease in erythrocyte GSH, ascorbic acid, plasma vitamin E levels and catalse activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis when compared to controls. The results of our study suggests higher oxygen free radical production, evidenced by increased MDA and decreased GSH, ascorbic acid, vitamin E and Catalase activity, support to the oxidative stress in rheumatoid arthritis. The increased activities of antioxidant enzymes may be a compensatory regulation in response to increased oxidative stress.
对类风湿性关节炎患者的红细胞脂质过氧化产物(丙二醛)、谷胱甘肽(GSH)水平、抗坏血酸和血浆维生素E(非酶抗氧化参数)以及抗氧化酶超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶(GP(X))、红细胞中的过氧化氢酶和血浆谷胱甘肽 - S - 转移酶(GST)活性的变化进行了评估。开展这项工作是为了评估类风湿性关节炎患者的氧化应激和抗氧化状态。结果发现,与对照组相比,类风湿性关节炎患者的红细胞丙二醛水平、超氧化物歧化酶、谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶活性、血浆谷胱甘肽 - S - 转移酶显著升高,而红细胞谷胱甘肽、抗坏血酸、血浆维生素E水平和过氧化氢酶活性显著降低。我们的研究结果表明,丙二醛增加、谷胱甘肽、抗坏血酸、维生素E和过氧化氢酶活性降低证明了氧自由基产生增加,这支持类风湿性关节炎存在氧化应激。抗氧化酶活性增加可能是对氧化应激增加的一种代偿性调节。
