Advances in dialysis technology allow to continuously monitor and modify many clinical variables and treatment parameters while the patient is undergoing dialysis treatment. These biofeedback systems, which include blood volume monitoring, ultrafiltration control, dialysate Na modeling, and cool dialysis, are effective in improving dialysis tolerability by reducing intradialytic hypotension episodes, muscle cramps, and postdialysis hypertension. More recent data seem to indicate that biofeedback systems could be effective also in finding the best euvolemic state, thereby permitting better interdialytic blood pressure control, without increasing itntradialytic morbidity.
