[Periodic medical examinations of workers during annual mass screening of the population].

The system of preliminary and periodic medical examinations of workers is a traditional component of the annual prophylactic medical examination of the population. The introduction of the Regulations on the latter issue makes it possible to broaden the scope and elevate the quality of prophylaxis among workers, thus to contribute to periodic examinations as part of the overall system of preventive measures. The most important problems of improving mass examinations as the first stage of the overall system, lie in the elaboration of the criteria of occupational diseases early diagnosis, adoption of uniform medical programmes for subsequent use of automation systems, as well as in a more substantial involvement of labour hygiene medical experts into current prophylactic examination programmes.
