Gloving the patient for operations upon the finger is simple and efficient. It can provide a sterile, bloodless and pain-free area for the indicated treatments. The technique is useful in emergency and ambulatory surgery departments and clinics. Use of appropriately sized patient gloves (usually size seven) and in lacerations, use of anesthesia (drops) before and local anesthesia (injection) after the gloving procedure is recommended.
