Between 1977 and 1988, 301 surgical interventions were performed in patients with pulmonary metastases. In 174 of these patients the procedure was considered to be potentially curative. In this group of patients, we observed a three-year survival rate of 57%, and a five-year survival rate of 38%. Among those patients who were not curatively treatable, only 7% were still alive after three years.
