Therapeutic efficacy and tolerance to long-term (2 years and longer) ambulatory administration of the new drug--ethacixin--was studied in 48 patients with various ventricular rhythm disturbances. Long-term administration of 150-200 mg of the drug daily produced a preventive effect in all those patients with ventricular rhythm disturbances, in whom it was effective during 4-7-day therapy. Ethacizin had to be discontinued in only 2 out of 48 patients because of considerable side effects.
