Aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, alkaline phosphatase and amylase levels were significantly increased in experimental female Swiss albino mice infected with single doses of 500, 1,000 and 2,000 larvae of Ancylostoma caninum. Increase of enzyme levels is due to the leakage of large amounts of enzymes into the blood. The necrosis of cells during intestinal and extra intestinal phases of ancylostomiasis in mice is directly responsible for the increase of enzymes.
