The kallikrein-kinin system of the blood was examined in 60 children with labile and stable patterns of primary arterial hypotension. The kallikrein activity and the prekallikrein content were determined by means of an improved method with the use of anionite. The activity of alpha 1-antitrypsin and alpha 2-macroglobulin, kininogenase inhibitors from blood plasma, was measured by the unified enzymatic assay. It has been marked that activation of the kallikrein-kinin system appears to be of definite importance in the prevailing of depressor influences in the mechanisms by which blood pressure is regulated in children suffering from arterial hypotension.
