The purpose of this article is to share the experience of implementation of a preceptor initiative in a large, diverse nursing department. The current literature, program selection, educational workshops, committee structure, and departmental support needed to implement a house-wide preceptor initiative are reviewed, and the results of the research project that was conducted are discussed.
