The new Land government of Slesvick Holstein has resolved to reorganize psychiatric care in a manner that care centres work and are managed in districts that are geographically situated near provincial towns or in county areas where local supervision is rendered easier by their proximity to the seat of local government and to out-patients' domiciles. The article describes the present structure of care, the update state of planning activities and the outlook to the future.
