One-stage full-mouth disinfection technique (FMD) has been introduced to avoid cross-contamination between the treated and untreated regions between treatment sessions. Considering the role of inflammatory mediators in periodontitis, the aim of the present study was to compare the effects of FMD with the quadrant-wise scaling and root planing (Q-SRP) on serum levels of IL-17 and IL-1β in patients with moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis.
Twenty patients with chronic periodontitis were selected randomly and based on inclusion criteria in each group. In order to evaluate the periodontal status, the clinical parameters of bleeding on probing (BOP), clinical attachment level (CAL), probing depth (PD) and modified gingival index (MGI) were measured and recorded before treatment and at 2- and 4-month intervals after treatment. Immunologic parameters of the study such as IL-17 and IL-1β serum levels were determined by special laboratory kits at the same intervals. Data were analyzed by SPSS 15 statistical software. Statistical significance was defined at p<0.05.
The results showed a decrease in the means of IL-17 and IL-1β serum levels in both treatment modalities, with no statistically significant differences between the two study groups at the two time intervals (p>0.05). In the evaluation of periodontal parameters, all parameters exhibited clinical improvements in both groups, with no statistically significant differences between the two study groups (p>0.05).
Based on the results of the present study it was concluded that both FMD and Q-SRP techniques result in improvements in periodontal indexes and decreases in the serum levels of IL-17 and IL-1β inflammatory mediators.
为避免治疗期间已治疗区域和未治疗区域之间的交叉污染,引入了一次性全口消毒技术(FMD)。考虑到炎症介质在牙周炎中的作用,本研究的目的是比较FMD与象限式龈下刮治术和根面平整术(Q-SRP)对中重度慢性牙周炎患者血清白细胞介素-17(IL-17)和白细胞介素-1β(IL-1β)水平的影响。
随机选择20例慢性牙周炎患者,并根据每组的纳入标准进行分组。为评估牙周状况,在治疗前以及治疗后2个月和4个月时测量并记录探诊出血(BOP)、临床附着丧失(CAL)、探诊深度(PD)和改良牙龈指数(MGI)等临床参数。在相同时间间隔使用特殊实验室试剂盒测定研究的免疫参数,如IL-17和IL-1β血清水平。数据采用SPSS 15统计软件进行分析。统计学显著性定义为p<0.05。
结果显示,两种治疗方式下IL-17和IL-1β血清水平的均值均下降,两个研究组在两个时间间隔均无统计学显著差异(p>0.05)。在牙周参数评估中,两组所有参数均有临床改善,两个研究组之间无统计学显著差异(p>0.05)。
基于本研究结果得出结论,FMD和Q-SRP技术均可改善牙周指数,并降低IL-17和IL-1β炎症介质的血清水平。
