A case of erythrocyte polyagglutinability is presented which developed in a patient who underwent surgery in the course of infection with Clostridium perfringens. When blood transfusion became necessary it was decided that the patient be transfused with concentrated and washed erythrocytes. The transfusion was well tolerated. With the curing of the infection the polyagglutinability also disappeared.
