Abstract

The LHCb experiment has been taking data at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN since the end of 2009. One of its key detector components is the Ring-Imaging Cherenkov (RICH) system. This provides charged particle identification over a wide momentum range, from 2-100 GeV/. The operation and control, software, and online monitoring of the RICH system are described. The particle identification performance is presented, as measured using data from the LHC. Excellent separation of hadronic particle types (, K, p) is achieved.

自2009年底以来,大型强子对撞机底夸克实验(LHCb实验)一直在欧洲核子研究组织(CERN)的大型强子对撞机(LHC)上采集数据。其关键探测器组件之一是环形成像切伦科夫(RICH)系统。该系统可在2至100 GeV/c的宽动量范围内进行带电粒子识别。本文描述了RICH系统的运行与控制、软件及在线监测情况。文中还给出了利用大型强子对撞机数据测得的粒子识别性能。实验实现了强子粒子类型(π、K、p)的出色分离。
