It has become possible to accurately differentiate monozygotic from dizygotic twins. In this study DNA fingerprinting was performed with new mini-satellite DNA as a probe. Identical DNA fingerprints from each twin indicate a monozygotic relationship and different fingerprints indicate a dizygotic relationship. In a case of dizygotic twins, the DNA fingerprints digested with HinfI indicated a monozygotic relationship, whereas the DNA fingerprints digested with MboI showed a dizygotic relationship.
准确区分单卵双胞胎和双卵双胞胎已成为可能。在本研究中，以新的小卫星DNA为探针进行了DNA指纹分析。每个双胞胎相同的DNA指纹表明是单卵双胞胎关系，不同的指纹则表明是双卵双胞胎关系。在一例双卵双胞胎中，用HinfI消化的DNA指纹显示为单卵双胞胎关系，而用MboI消化的DNA指纹则显示为双卵双胞胎关系。
