The author proposes a through ophthalmological examination and selection of the candidates for specialization in ophthalmology. He thinks that the ophthalmic surgeon should have a bilateral full visual acuity with an admittable correction of -1.0 D to +2.0 D, taking into consideration the physiological astigmatism, further--normal color discrimination, efficient adaptation and stereoscopic vision. Only such ophthalmic specialist is able to correctly evaluate the patients eye through the period of his professional activity.
