The anaerobic threshold (AT) was determined in 68 patients suffering from heart disease and in 18 normal persons during the treadmill test according to the parameters of ventilation and gas exchange. The dynamics of the oxygen debt was assessed in accordance with the dynamics of the recovery coefficient (RC). It was established that in the assessment of pump function of the heart, the sensitivity of the RC was 89%, that of the AT 51%. It was also found that the AT, as an indicator of the decompensation of pump function of the heart, can only be used in patients belonging to functional classes IV and III.
