[The perception of complex signals by cats under free behavioral conditions].

Four adult cats were trained to discriminate between tones of rising and falling frequency or intensity. Food reward was used for conditioning. The difference limits for central frequency of 2.5 kHz were 150 Hz; 1.6 dB for FM and AM modulated signals, respectively.
