Presented are the results of treatment of more severe retinal detachments (82 eyes); in which a fragment or fragments of a silicone sponge roll encircled the eye ball performing a role of an extrascleral invaginating implant. The anatomical reattachment of the retina was achieved in 85% of cases (70 eyes). Misting of the vitreous (17%) was the more substantial early complications; it passed after a general application of antibiotics.
