The present study was undertaken to investigate the effects of vasopressor substances contained in local anesthetics in dentistry. The results obtained indicate substantial cardiac activity of these anaesthetics, as shown by electrocardiographic (EKG) tracings carried out on patients before and after anesthetization. The vasoconstrictors, adrenaline or noradrenaline, resulted at times in slight cardiac lesions which could not be observed clinically. Careful anamneses could avoid such situations.
