In connection with increasing theory-bound investigations in prehistoric anthropology age and sex diagnosis of children's skeletons is gaining importance. Developmental stages of the tympanic plate are introduced as an additional criterion for ageing infants. Discriminant functions derived from ilium and femur measurements allow preliminary access towards a metric sexual diagnosis of fetal and neonate individuals.
随着史前人类学中理论性研究的不断增加，儿童骨骼的年龄和性别诊断变得愈发重要。鼓膜板的发育阶段被作为婴儿年龄判定的一项附加标准引入。从髂骨和股骨测量得出的判别函数，为胎儿和新生儿个体的性别计量诊断提供了初步途径。
