In a group of students who rinsed their mouths twice daily with a 0.2 or 0.3% SnF2-solution, tin fluoride clearly checked plaque development. The mechanism responsible for this may be the attachment of Sn2+ to acid particles on the surface of oral bacteria and on the cuticula dentis.
