We are pleased to introduce this issue of Nurse Researcher about research governance and ethics when interest in these matters is so high. In the UK this can be partly explained by interest generated by scandals in the medical research community, most notably the retention of children's organs without consent at Alder Hey Hospital, and the consequent government priority attached to more rigorous governance procedures.
