The author calls for limiting the indications for puncture and catheterization of the subclavian vein and recommends maximal use of the subcutaneous veins of the extremities with their adequate preparation and care. It is emphasized that catheterization of the subclavian vein should be considered as one of the last means for adjusting infusion therapy according to strict indications with due considerations for the contraindications, which are pointed out in the work.
