Abstract

The relaxation phase of contraction under voltage clamp conditions was analysed. It was shown that relaxation can be described by at least two exponentials. These can be explained as contributions of Ca uptake and Ca redistribution between the Ca specific sites on troponin C. The analysis has brought evidence in support of the hypothesis concerning unhomogenous distribution of Ca occupied sites during the activation of contraction.
