Abstract

The band-winged (Reiche & Fairmaire, 1849) and its genus Stål, 1873 (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Oedipodinae) are recorded for the first time for the Egyptian fauna. The species was collected from Gabal Elba, in the southeastern corner of Egypt. This record expands the known distributional range of towards the north of Africa. Descriptions of the genus and the Egyptian subspecies are given using multiple diagnostic characters. The descriptions are supplemented by drawings and photographs of the specimen collected. It is proposed that the genus belongs to the tribe Locustini.

带翅蝗（Reiche & Fairmaire，1849）及其所属的斯塔尔属（Stål，1873）（直翅目：蝗科：斑翅蝗亚科）首次被记录于埃及动物区系。该物种采自埃及东南角的加巴勒埃尔巴。这一记录将其已知分布范围扩展至非洲北部。利用多种鉴别特征对该属及埃及亚种进行了描述。所采集标本的绘图和照片对描述起到了补充作用。建议将该属归入蝗族。
