In a period from 1966-1986 20 patients were operated on for primary carcinomas of the small intestine. A resection with curative intention was possible in 18 cases. Ten patients died because of the tumor, 9 within 28 months. The 5-year-survival rate was 43%. Tumor size, grade of infiltration and regional lymph nodes did not influence the follow-up.
