Electrical skin stimulation with current increasing from 0.5 to 0.9 mA enhanced the multiunit activity of paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus in rabbits. The response of pituitary-adrenocortical system was estimated by the corticosteroid level in the blood. The increase in current strength to 0.7 mA elevated the corticosteroid level in plasma. Further increase of current strength to 0.9 mA, however, reduced the stress-induced rise in the corticosteroid level.
