The modern Norwegian tourist may need a simple and rapid procedure to ensure that water is potable. Convenient available products for such include chemicals and microfilters. We describe and comment on the chemicals currently available in Norway. We have also evaluated a series of portable filters. The microfilters reduced the number of microbes quite efficiently. Some also had good flow capacity, and can certainly be recommended as useful traveller's equipment.
