Results of treatment of 865 patients with adhesive disease are presented, 217 of them were subjected to life-saving operations for acute commissural ileus. Planned operations were made on 336 patients. Due to bad long-term results of the Noble and Chidls-Fillips operations the author prefers simple dissection of commissures. Adhesive disease appears in 2% of cases after operations irrespective of the prophylactic measures. The adhesive process is a natural feature of the organism and it should not be disturbed, since the adhesive disease makes its appearance not due to the predisposition but because the commissures disturb passage along the intestine.
