The most frequent pathologic findings causing death within the autopsies performed for the Health Authorities in Vienna in the years 1959, 1976 and 1987 are shown; the percentages of the findings in 1987, taken collectively, are compared to those seen in corpses found on the W.C. The evaluation reveals an increase of acute opposite to chronic heart diseases; furthermore that - concerning deaths on the toilet-the acute findings in general are clearly dominating.
