I cannot think that Westminster Abbey figured large in the life of Florence Nightingale. Indeed, when she died at the age of ninety, and a nation, grateful of her contribution to nursing made the rare offer of burial in the Abbey, the reply was the formidable Miss Nightingale had made it clear she wished for no such thing.
