The principal aim of this study was to investigate the oxidative effects of acute alcohol consumption on the functions of the heart and the liver and the possible modification of this effect by phenolic compounds from n-butanol extract of Camellia sinensis supplementation.
Three experimental groups of rats were used: control, ethanol-exposed (40% v/v, 5 g/kg per oral every 12 hours for 3 doses, binge model), and ethanol-exposed plus n-butanol extract of Camellia sinensis (100 mg/kg once a day for three days before and simultaneously with ethanol administration). Serum transaminases, cholesterol, triglycerides, lipid peroxidation (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) were estimated to assess organs damage.
n-butanol extract of Camellia sinensis at a dose of 100 mg/kg body weight exhibited a significant reversal effect in all biochemical parameters measured such as extent of lipid peroxidation, GSH, lipid profile, and serum aminotransferase activities.
These results suggest that n-butanol extract of Camellia sinensis protected the heart and the liver from binge ethanol induced injury through attenuating oxidative stress.
本研究的主要目的是调查急性酒精摄入对心脏和肝脏功能的氧化作用,以及补充中华茶正丁醇提取物中的酚类化合物对这种作用可能产生的影响。
使用三组实验大鼠:对照组、乙醇暴露组(40% v/v,每12小时口服5 g/kg,共3剂,暴饮模型),以及乙醇暴露加中华茶正丁醇提取物组(在给予乙醇前三天及同时,每天一次,每次100 mg/kg)。通过测定血清转氨酶、胆固醇、甘油三酯、脂质过氧化(丙二醛)、还原型谷胱甘肽(GSH)和谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶(GPx)来评估器官损伤。
剂量为100 mg/kg体重的中华茶正丁醇提取物在所有测定的生化参数中均表现出显著的逆转作用,如脂质过氧化程度、GSH、血脂谱和血清转氨酶活性。
这些结果表明,中华茶正丁醇提取物通过减轻氧化应激,保护心脏和肝脏免受暴饮乙醇诱导的损伤。
