Abstract

INTRODUCTION

The present study was conducted with the aim of examining the structural model of interpersonal relationships and depression using coping strategies and loneliness as mediators.

METHODS

Using multistage random sampling, 301 high-school students were selected from Minudasht city, Iran. The participants were aksed to complete the Network of Relationships Inventory (NRI); the Ways of Coping Questionnaire (Lazarus and Folkman); the Children's Loneliness Scale (CLS); and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21). Structural equation modeling was used to examine the pattern of direct and indirect effects.

RESULTS

Findings of the present study show that the data are well fitted to the model. The indirect effect of the positive quality of relationships was significant on depression through loneliness. Moreover, the indirect effects of the negative quality of relationships on depression through loneliness and through emotion-focused coping strategies were statistically significant. Although the effect of loneliness and emotion-focused coping strategies on depression was significant, problem-focused coping strategies did not have a significant effect on depression. Additionally, the findings suggested that the indirect effect through loneliness on depression was stronger compared with the indirect effect through emotion-focused coping strategies.

CONCLUSION

The positive or negative quality of interpersonal relationships, loneliness, and emotion-focused coping strategy can significantly predict depression.

本研究旨在以应对策略和孤独感作为中介变量，检验人际关系与抑郁之间的结构模型。

方法

采用多阶段随机抽样法，从伊朗米努达什特市选取了301名高中生。要求参与者完成人际关系量表（NRI）、应对方式问卷（拉扎勒斯和福克曼编制）、儿童孤独感量表（CLS）以及抑郁、焦虑和压力量表（DASS - 21）。采用结构方程模型来检验直接效应和间接效应的模式。

结果

本研究结果表明数据与模型拟合良好。人际关系的积极品质通过孤独感对抑郁产生的间接效应显著。此外，人际关系的消极品质通过孤独感以及通过以情绪为中心的应对策略对抑郁产生的间接效应具有统计学意义。虽然孤独感和以情绪为中心的应对策略对抑郁有显著影响，但以问题为中心的应对策略对抑郁没有显著影响。此外，研究结果表明，通过孤独感对抑郁产生的间接效应比通过以情绪为中心的应对策略产生的间接效应更强。

结论
