In recent years, anxiety research has increased in pace. An important trend has been the distinction between panic anxiety and generalized anxiety, which is reflected in the DSM-III classification. This paper reviews the evidence in favor of this diagnostic distinction and explores the linkage between panic anxiety and agoraphobia.
