Abstract
Rupture of papillary muscles due to infective endocarditis is a very rare event. We report a case of anterolateral papillary muscle rupture caused by Staphylococcus aureus endocarditis, due to direct bacterial invasion of the papillary muscle, resulting in severe mitral regurgitation.
