PURPOSE: Osteocalcin is considered as a bone-derived hormone affecting on the body fat distribution and body mass index. Several cross-sectional studies have investigated the association between serum osteocalcin and body mass index. The aim of this study was to summarize the evidence on the relationship between serum osteocalcin and body mass index. METHODS: We conducted a complete search up to November 2016 in PubMed and SCOPUS and reviewed reference list of all relevant articles and reviews. The DerSimonian-Laird method were used to pool effect sizes of eligible studies. The potential sources of heterogeneity were assessed using the standard χ test.To find possible the sources of between-study heterogeneity, we carried out subgroup analyses based on sex, and type of study population. RESULTS: There was a significant inverse association in the overall result of this study between serum osteocalcin levels and BMI(r = -0.161; 95% CI: -0.197, -0.124, p < 0.000). In the subgroup analysis to find the sources of significant heterogeneity between-study, we observed that the type of the study population may be the source of between-study heterogeneity and the most correlation was seen in metabolic syndrome studies (r = -0.265; p = 0.000). CONCLUSION: Findings from the available data indicated an overall significant inverse association between serum osteocalcin and body mass index. Further studies based on the type of study population are needed to better clarify these associations.
目的:骨钙素被认为是一种影响体脂分布和体重指数的骨骼来源激素。一些横断面研究已经调查了血清骨钙素与体重指数之间的关系。本研究的目的是总结血清骨钙素与体重指数之间关系的证据。
方法:我们在 PubMed 和 SCOPUS 中进行了全面检索,检索时间截至 2016 年 11 月,并查阅了所有相关文章和综述的参考文献列表。采用 DerSimonian-Laird 法汇总合格研究的效应大小。使用标准 χ 检验评估异质性的潜在来源。为了发现研究之间异质性的可能来源,我们根据性别和研究人群类型进行了亚组分析。
结果:本研究的总体结果表明,血清骨钙素水平与 BMI 之间存在显著负相关(r=-0.161;95%CI:-0.197,-0.124,p<0.000)。在亚组分析中,我们发现研究人群类型可能是研究之间异质性的来源,并且在代谢综合征研究中相关性最强(r=-0.265;p=0.000)。
结论:现有数据的结果表明,血清骨钙素与体重指数之间存在总体显著的负相关。需要进一步研究不同类型的研究人群,以更好地阐明这些关联。
