Because catatonic psychosis in childhood and adolescence is rare we have only scanty knowledge about the clinical picture, treatment and prognosis. Based on a single case study these aspects are discussed with respect to treatment course and outcome. A multidimensional treatment concept integrating neuroleptic treatment, individual and family therapy, and physical and occupational therapy seems to be the best approach to the severe affective and cognitive deficits.
