Abstract

ZX01 produces some antibiotics and a glycoprotein with antiviral activity. To further evaluate its biosynthetic potential, here we sequenced the 7,026,279 bp draft genome of ZX01 and analyzed all identifiable secondary gene clusters for controlling natural products. More than 60 putative clusters were found in ZX01, the majority of these biosynthetic loci are novel. In addition, the regulators for secondary metabolism in ZX01 were abundant. The global regulator not only controls biosynthesis of some antibiotics, but also enhances production of glycoprotein GP-1 with antiviral activity. This study importantly reveals the powerful interplay between genomic analysis and studies of traditional natural product purification/production increasing.

ZX01能产生一些抗生素和一种具有抗病毒活性的糖蛋白。为了进一步评估其生物合成潜力,我们在此对ZX01的7,026,279 bp基因组草图进行了测序,并分析了所有可识别的用于控制天然产物的次生基因簇。在ZX01中发现了60多个推定的基因簇,其中大多数生物合成位点是新的。此外,ZX01中次生代谢的调控因子很丰富。全局调控因子不仅控制一些抗生素的生物合成,还能提高具有抗病毒活性的糖蛋白GP-1的产量。这项研究重要地揭示了基因组分析与传统天然产物纯化/生产研究之间强大的相互作用。
