Lumbar posterior apophyseal ring fracture is an uncommon finding in children, but lumbar spondylolysis is a common disorder. Both disorders are prevalent in young athletes. We describe 3 adolescent athletes who showed both lumbar spondylolysis and lumbar posterior apophyseal ring fracture. Because lumbar spondylolysis is comparatively easy to diagnose, a concurrent posterior lumbar apophyseal ring fracture is likely to be overlooked.
In patients with severe low back and radicular pain in whom spondylolysis is suspected, it is important to perform not only magnetic resonance imaging and radiography but also computed tomography for identifying posterior apophyseal ring fractures.
腰椎后缘骨骺环骨折在儿童中是一种罕见的发现,但腰椎峡部裂是一种常见疾病。这两种疾病在年轻运动员中都很普遍。我们描述了3名青少年运动员,他们同时患有腰椎峡部裂和腰椎后缘骨骺环骨折。由于腰椎峡部裂相对容易诊断,同时存在的腰椎后缘骨骺环骨折很可能被忽视。
对于怀疑有峡部裂且伴有严重腰痛和神经根性疼痛的患者,不仅要进行磁共振成像和X线摄影,还应进行计算机断层扫描以识别后缘骨骺环骨折,这一点很重要。
