[Surgical treatment of pain of meniscal origin].

Meniscal blocking of the TMJ is encountered by first trying to reduce it manually, if necessary under general anesthesia and curarization. Otherwise surgery is indicated. Meniscectomy is not recommended because of the danger of arthrosis. An arthroplasty is performed, the fibrocartilage removed and the condyle remodeled. The fibrocartilage regenerated totally, as could be shown experimentally. This intervention eliminates painful blocking of the joint and clicking during the first half of opening movements.
