Bacteriological investigations made in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Sea of Japan have revealed that Allomonas enterica are widely spread in sea water and hydrobionts. The prevalence of these microorganisms in biotopes with unfavorable sanitary characteristics and their high correlation with the main indicator microorganisms suggest their importance as indicators, and a high percentage of seafood contaminated with Allomonas necessitates their study as possible causative agents of toxinfections.
