A newly-developed method and algorithm for the analysis of electrocardiograms received by telephone is described. Instrumental, mathematical and programmed valid signal filtering from interfering noises was used. High sensitivity of the method in the identification and measurement of electrocardiographic waves and intervals is demonstrated. The diagnosis of myocardial infarction on the basis of the newly-developed criteria showed a 91.3% sensitivity and a 98.0% specificity; computerized verdict of ST changes showed a 90.6% sensitivity and a 93.0% specificity.
