Abstract

Ocular drug delivery by conventional routes of administration cannot reach or maintain therapeutic drug concentrations in the target tissues for a long duration due to the presence of various anatomical and physiological barriers. Treatment of chronic ocular diseases especially posterior segment of ocular diseases requires novel drug delivery systems that is capable overcome these barriers for efficacious delivery. In recent years, the ocular sustained-release drug delivery system, as a new drug delivery approach, has drawn tremendous attention for its advantages of improving local drug concentration, prolonging action time and reducing frequency of injection. Researchers have been devoted to the developing more effective sustained-release drug delivery systems in order to achieve better clinical efficacy. This article discusses various current sustained-release corticosteroids delivery systems. .

由于存在各种解剖学和生理学屏障,通过传统给药途径进行的眼部药物递送无法长时间在靶组织中达到或维持治疗药物浓度。慢性眼部疾病尤其是眼部后段疾病的治疗需要新型药物递送系统,该系统能够克服这些屏障以实现有效的药物递送。近年来,眼部缓释药物递送系统作为一种新的药物递送方法,因其提高局部药物浓度、延长作用时间和减少注射频率的优点而备受关注。研究人员一直致力于开发更有效的缓释药物递送系统,以实现更好的临床疗效。本文讨论了当前各种缓释皮质类固醇递送系统。
