A rare case of osteoma of the tongue is reported. It occurs most commonly in females in the third and fourth decades, is usually pedunculated and located on the dorsum of the tongue immediately posterior to the foramen caecum. Following surgical removal, recurrence has not been reported. The aetiology and pathogenesis remain obscure.
